Katherine Leaffer
Born and raised in Colorado, Katherine grew up riding out of smaller barns with limited access to horses and show opportunities. Once she got her license, she began showing more competitively on the Colorado circuit, occasionally traveling to shows throughout the region and in California. In high school, she spent countless hours grooming and doing barn chores in exchange for riding time and experience, driven by a desire to understand every aspect of the industry—a mindset she still carries today.
Eager to expand her horizons, she moved to San Diego after graduating and enrolled at San Diego State University. Her passion for high-level sport quickly drew her to the Wellington circuit, and at 19, she relocated across the country to immerse myself fully in the industry. She's been based in Wellington ever since and joined Alex Granato’s program in September 2024, where she immediately connected with his philosophy and approach to horsemanship. Outside the barn, she is pursuing an online degree in Finance with a concentration in Real Estate. When not working with horses, you’ll find her exploring the outdoors, flowing through a yoga class, or experimenting in the kitchen.
At the heart of everything I do is a deep love for the horses—their presence is grounding, and building meaningful partnerships with them is what drives me every day.
